Pacific Coast Steel is a member of the Associated General Contractors, the nation’s largest and oldest construction trade association, established in 1918. The AGC is dedicated to improving the construction industry daily by educating the industry to employ the finest skills, promoting use of the latest technology and advocating building the best quality projects for owners – public and private. Membership in AGC begins at the local level. Pacific Coast Steel is a member of the San Diego Chapter, attending events and educational opportunities to further their involvement in the local contracting community. David Perkins, Executive Vice President for Pacific Coast Steel has been actively involved in the AGC for many years. Risk Manager, Jennifer Martin and Safety Director, Carlos Ramirez currently serve as members of the AGC Safety Committee.
Pacific Coast Steel was proud to co-sponsor the AGC Mixer aboard the USS Midway with Cement Cutting and Marathon Construction in September of 2004. It was a wonderful event attended by over 500 people, from Owners to Superintendents to Project Managers and Safety Directors, employed by top construction firms all over Southern California.
CRSI – Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute

Pacific Coast Steel is a member of CRSI, the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute. CRSI has operated as a trade organization since 1924. CRSI has fostered the continued growth of reinforced concrete construction to its present multi-billion dollar status. CRSI supports research and engineering for the safe and proper use of materials in reinforced concrete construction. CRSI's technical staff has developed many publications and computer programs for use by designers, contractors and others. The CRSI professional staff is nationally recognized for its skills, experience and continuing work on specifications, building codes and engineering practices that affect the construction industry.
Pacific Coast Steel sponsors a scholarship offered by the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute. TheCRSI Foundation is a nonprofit educational foundation responsible for funding and administering graduate and undergraduate scholarships for architectural and/or engineering students; and, scholarships and/or training programs at vocational/technical schools which offer programs in estimating and/or detailing of reinforcing steel. Post Tensioning Institute

Pacific Coast Steel is a member of the PT Institute. Established in 1976, PTI focuses on research projects directed towards development of specifications and design recommendations, publication of technical literature on applications of post-tensioning, and an annual program of technical seminars to disseminate information on post-tensioning design and construction technology.
PTI provides research, technical development, marketing and promotional activities for companies engaged in post-tensioned construction. Its publications are a major communication system for disseminating information on post-tensioning design and construction technology. In addition, PTI publishes a quarterly newsletter dealing with developments in the post-tensioning industry.
Pacific Coast Steel encourages its’ supervisory staff of foreman to be certified in the installation of post tensioned steel. This 2 day course is designed to teach the field fundamentals of post tensioning, and gives the foreman the expertise to do their work with confidence and knowledge.
Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust

IMPACT is a joint cooperative trust that brings Ironworkers and signatory contractors together for the first time to develop programs to increase market awareness, and to strengthen the steel industry. PCS has been involved with IMPACT and attends meetings regularly to discuss important issues such as Workers’ Compensation reform, market changes, and insurance. In 2004, Jon Scurlock, Vice President of Pacific Coast Steel, spoke at a 3 day IMPACT forum for ironworkers and steel companies on the topic of apprenticeship. PCS employs more apprentices in California than any other reinforcing steel company. It is the belief of Pacific Coast Steel that investing in the younger workforce of apprentices is important to the continued success of our trade. Teaching and training the younger workers of today will result in stronger and better ironworkers in the future.
The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California

The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) is a professional organization of Civil and Structural Engineers which also includes affiliated construction industry members and students. The association provides its members with the forum, the educational opportunities and the challenge to meet high standards of engineering excellence and ethical and professional conduct in the design of structures and facilities within the broader field of civil engineering.
The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) is now a member organization of the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC). The other member organizations of the State Association are the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC), the Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) and the Structural Engineers Association of San Diego (SEAOSD). The individual members of each regional association are automatically members of the State Association.
SEAOSC is one of the four regional organizations under the Structural Engineering Association of California (SEAOC) which is comprised of members from all the 4 regional organizations. |
